Boom Pictures new CBBC series Ludus is really breaking ground in the second-screen revolution. The 20 x 30 fantasy game show allows young viewers to play along at home via an app. Against a soundtrack of fabulous wall-to-wall music the show has youngsters playing to rescue family and friends from a really weird aliens (they aren’t all weird you know). It’s a beautifully made show, with wonderful design, very high production values and great performances (especially the monkey). It’s CBBC’s first truly interactive programme and may well be the shape of things to come. Viewers’ apps synchronise with action in the show via broadcast audio signals. The show’s music (published by Accorder) is composed by Mathieu Karsenti who’s really captured the sci-fi spirit of the adventure.
