Just released in Israel is the wonderful Abulele, with wonderful music by Accorder composer Frank Ilfman. The film – apparently Israel’s first ever creature movie – is aimed at a family audience and tells the story of Adam, a little boy who befriends the Abulele, a dangerous, ancient monster. However, instead of Adam getting chewed up the monster proves to be warm, friendly and becomes his best friend. The film has been attracting brilliant reviews and will roll out worldwide in 2016. Director Johnathan Geva’s influences range from ET to Where the Wild Things Are. Here’s a short “making of” YouTube video all about the music – featuring Frank and conductor and orchestrator Matthew Slater, another Accorder composer – so hey! two for the price of one.
