UK film success

Great to see that UK independent films had their best year ever in 2015. The BFI has just reported British films achieved an 11% share of the total box office of £1.2 billion. The best performance was the amazing Legend, starring Tom Hardy as both the Kray twins (it extorted £18.4 million in the UK alone), next was The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel checking out with £16 million, Shaun the Sheep rounded up £14 million, The Lady in the Van scavenged £12 million. And these are just the UK figures. Legend for example has gone on to take $30m worldwide. And that Maggie Smith is obviously box office gold as she starred in two of those!

Amy, the Oscar nominated Amy Winehouse documentary was the top factual film with £3.8 million. And of course all this means good news for British composers and the TV and film music industry all round.
